A traditional and grand federation home turned luxury winery escape. Includes:
Adelaide is the wine capital of Australia and has been deemed one of the nine Great Wine Capitals of the World (up there with the likes of Bordeaux, Napa Valley and Bilbao Rioja to name just a few). Needless to say, you’re guaranteed to taste a number of tantalising drops no matter which of South Australia’s 18 wine regions you choose to visit.
Slightly closer to Adelaide CBD than the more well known Barossa is the region of Adelaide Hills. With a slightly cooler climate than the Barossa, Adelaide Hills is known more for it’s white wines with Sauvignon Blanc accounting for about a thirds of the varietals coming from the region. Since the 1850’s, Mount Lofty House, a British style country manor, has been a premier venue in the region, and while the original structure sadly burnt down during the Ash Wednesday Fires of 1983, it has since been restored to its former glory and now provides luxury accommodation, tantalising food and exceptional winery (and beyond) views.
