This page provides information and links pertaining to the entry to and travel within countries, as well as returning to Australia. As requirements can change frequently and at short notice, please make sure you remain aware of the most up-to-date requirements; it is your responsibility to ensure you meet all of these at the time of travel. Useful information can be found by visiting smartraveller.gov.au. If your holiday includes a cruise, we also recommend you view the cruise line health protocols; useful links can be found here.
Discerning Traveller does not provide advice regarding passports and/or visas. However, all guests are required to carry a passport usually valid for 6 months after the final day of travel, and any necessary visas. It is the responsibility of the guest to contact your nearest consulate for the most up-to-date information regarding visas, and please be aware that policies can change quickly. Guests must also apply for all visas required and get the required approval to travel. We recommend the use of smartraveller.gov.au or cibtvisas.com.au for advice in these areas.
As health regulations change frequently, we advise you to consult your local doctor or travel clinic for the most current information concerning your travel itinerary and personal health history. You should ensure that any relevant certification, particularly any record of vaccination, is always carried with you while travelling.
Please check with a travel medicine specialist or local health department for specific recommendations and/or requirements for immunisations.
It is of the utmost importance that you are properly insured when you travel, particularly to avoid cancellation penalties and the high costs associated with emergency medical situations. Make sure that you carry details of this insurance with you during your travels. Some countries require you to show proof of your insurance upon entry. Please refer to smartraveller.gov.au for advice.
Discerning Traveller strongly advises all travellers to be aware of the most recent travel advisories to the countries they are visiting. You may receive updates from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on dfat.gov.au.
